Series: The Next Generation

We strive today to preach the gospel and build the church because of the crown of Christ’s righteousness we will receive from the Lord when our race is over.

If we are to hand the gospel faithfully to the next generation, we are charged as a church to faithfully preach and apply all of God’s Word in every ministry, without exception or qualification.

In our text today we’ll see how we can overcome times of difficulties by following faithful examples, what I’ll call Walking truth and also by being anchored to the word of God, the Written truth.

It is essential that every believer must trust the truth, teach the truth, and expect transfer of the truth, despite, and because of, suffering. This is how we serve The Next Generation.

Good News is not very helpful if the message is garbled or undelivered. Last Sunday Jamie challenged us to unashamedly keep the Good News (the Gospel) clear. In this text, Paul urges us to make sure it keeps getting delivered by encouraging the messengers who bring it.

Far from being ashamed of the person and work of Jesus, be so positively unashamed, bold and confident in the Gospel of Christ, that you are willing to suffer for it, knowing that He has chosen you, called you and equipped you to do so.

The next generation’s understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ rests firmly in the hands of the fathers, mothers, pastors, teachers, small group leaders, counselors, and every disciple-making part of the body of Christ who is commissioned by God with the responsibility of giving that gospel to the church of the future.
