Men
Men at Calvary
Our Vision
A disciple is a student-follower who studies his master, then follows his life and teaching. We believe God is calling us into new and exciting days at Calvary. We invite you men to join us in this adventure. God has been teaching us a lot, yet we’re mainly returning to the basics.
Calling all Disciples!
Follow Me! was the common invitation of Jesus in his brief, 3 ½-year earthly ministry.
If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? (Mt. 16:24-26)

We have been learning that we tend to divorce evangelism from discipleship. We tend to reduce evangelism to a tract and discipleship to a class, and to make discipleship really complicated and then not do it. Also, we’ve made disciple-ship highly informational rather than relational or obedi-ence-based.
Five reforms we’re making:
- We must integrate sharing the good news of salvation in Jesus with following him.
- We must pray and watch for organic ways to share Jesus with others.
- We must restore discipleship to taking the next step of obedience.
- We must simplify our lives, prioritizing the Gospel in all areas of life.
- We must find highly relational and accountable forms of discipleship.
Defining terms in clear simple ways.
A disciple is a follower of Jesus Christ committed to taking the next step of obedience. Jesus had a curious habit of call-ing his followers disciples, wherever they were in the journey. In 2 Timothy 2:2, Paul writes, what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. A disciplemaker is a follower of Jesus Christ who is committed to take the next step of obedience and is actively calling others to join them in this journey (Follow me as I follow Christ, 1 Corinthians 11:1).
