When I think of July, I think of fireflies, sultry heat, and camp fires for toasting marshmallows. I think of visiting cousins, eating sliced watermelon, fishing for rainbow trout, and walking bare foot. Miserable nights sleeping in tents, canoeing the Root River, and growing sun-ripened tomatoes, all come to mind. I wonder when you think of July what memories it stirs in you? Summer days contain powerful memories from my childhood, but they also hold the potential of future memories to be wrapped up in sunshine and sandy beach towels.
My memories were not created alone. They were created in community with others. Wherever July finds you, I hope it finds you connecting with others. In this month’s blog you will read about the lives of women at Calvary. Some you may know well, others you may have sat next to in church for months, and never known their name. That’s the point. This blog is meant to be a bridge of connection, where we can encourage each other, but also provide a platform to share our lives in deeper ways. Because, God created you to be part of a larger community!
As you process Kari Kaus’ testimony about God’s faithfulness during her family’s house fire, read about Diane Enger’s grandmotherly advice, and are encouraged by Julianne Hagan’s devotional on diving into a chronological Bible study, I hope you feel just a bit more connected. When you hear about how Calvary women “Get Moving” maybe you’ll want to join some of them. We hope you are hungry for fellowship, and yes a stirring to share your own story. Maybe you’ll want to share it in the women’s blog or simply over a cup of coffee brewed from beans roasted by Pastor Tim on a Sunday morning. Regardless, we hope this is just the beginning of creating more lasting memories in community. Enjoy!
