Spring is the optimal time for farmers to cultivate their land. This means that they are busy preparing the land for the most favorable growth of their seeds. What if we thought about our spiritual walk like this? Creating an optimal environment for the word of God to dwell deep within us and causing growth to occur that may bless others around us. We can do this through reading the Bible – All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 2 Timothy 3:16; praying regularly – Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need, Hebrews 4:16; and gathering for fellowship in a local church – Not neglecting to together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near, Hebrews 10:25. May God bless you and cause you to grow in Him as you pursue these things!
This month, we celebrate the cultivation of a painting passion in Elizabeth England and the literal cultivation of soil in gardening from Papua New Guinea with For Hearts and Souls visitor Philipa Jajata, to flower and vegetable gardening in Canada with Cheri Hart. In May, we also celebrate Mother’s Day. Enjoy the beautiful contributions from Kari Kaus, Rachael Howden, and Linnea Johnson, honoring their mothers and the relationships with their girls. In Faces of Calvary, we meet Deb Jones and Carol Holland. A delicious recipe of lemon pie from Kathy Bergqist seems perfect as we head in to warmer months. Finally, a book review by Melissa Meyers tells us about a multigenerational story that balances approaching death with a beautiful reflection of a life well lived. Enjoy!
