Describe your day to day life.
I am wife to Dave and a homeschooling mom of 5, Belle (19), Alex (17), Will (15), Evie (14), and Johnny (8). We are in the launching children phase of life, Belle is finishing her first year at UMD in Duluth and Alex will be heading to NDSU in Fargo next year. I miss the chaos and noise of having a lot of little ones in my house but I do really enjoy the teen years! I am amused by the fact that we go from a graduation planning meeting to picking up our 2nd grader from Awana in the same evening. I also work part time as a nurse in the Neuroscience ICU and I feel this gives me the opportunity to use my gifts and love of caring for people. We have been attending Calvary for about 2 1/2 years but our kids were attending the youth group for years before we decided to visit. We came one Sunday and it felt like home and we have been here ever since.
Share a childhood memory.
I was born and raised in Minnesota. We lived many years on 10 acres just north of Rochester. We spent countless hours playing outside. Winters in the country were always filled with fun in the snow. One winter we had gotten a lot of snow and I remember my dad scooping snow up in the bucket of his tractor and dumping us out with the snow. He made a huge pile of snow for us kids and we built a huge snow fort with multiple rooms in it. He would also tie our sleds to the back of his snowmobile and pull us around in the fields. We would do anything to hold on as my dad whipped us around in circles. Sometimes I wonder how we survived our childhood but it sure was a lot of fun!
What are your hobbies?
My hobbies have changed over the years. I used to love playing volleyball and softball, riding my bike, and doing intense workouts. These days my body tells me walking, lifting weights, and hiking are much more my pace. I would love to play pickleball more often if I had more free time.
What are 3 things you highly value in a friend?
Honesty, loyalty, and a sense of humor.
If you could be anywhere, doing anything right now, where would you be and what would you be doing?
I love to be outdoors so I would love to be hiking anywhere in the mountains or near water. I feel most at peace in God’s creation. Two family favorites have been hiking in the Smokey and Rocky Mountains.
What’s your favorite time of day and why?
If you know me at all, you know my love of going to bed and getting up early. I get up and start my day at 5 am with coffee and a 4-5 mile walk as long as I am not working. I love the peace and stillness on my morning walks and I find I am able to think clearly without all the distractions of daily life. I enjoy listening to podcasts or sermons and will often spend time in prayer.
What is your avorite Bible Verse?
Romans 15:13
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
