Hey guys,
Justine here! We are just nine days away from departure, and we couldn’t be more excited! As we are prepping, we are also asking you to prep with us. Don’t worry–it doesn’t mean you have to help me pack my toothbrush or stuffed animals. Instead, we want you to pray! So, we are giving you ideas of what your prayers could entail for the next thirty days, for both before, during, and after the trip. Of course, these are just suggestions, and we wouldn’t protest if you added something to the list!
30 Days of Prayer List
June 8: Typically, on Sunday, the Mackeys are at the Buenos Aires Church or the La Vid Church in the morning, and in the afternoon, they go to Boma (these are the churches we will be serving). Of the three churches, La Vid is the larger and established church. It serves a tough area of Jarabacoa that is called La Colonia. Pray for these churches.
June 9: The team is actually bigger than the 27 that are coming from the USA; the Mackeys and 9 others will serve with them. It’s a total of 38, so pray for the 38! (Going forward, we will refer to the team as “the 38”).
June 10: A week from today, the 27 will fly to the DR. It’s not uncommon for things to happen (sickness, stress, etc.). Pray for protection over all 38.
June 11: 5 Dominican teenagers have been invited to serve the Lord with this team. They were picked for a reason, and we want to see these teens grow in their faith. Pray for them.
June 12: Dominican missionaries Eduardo and Miriam Infante will host those serving with the church in Buenos Aires. They left jobs so that they could have more time to share Christ in communities, and God is using them in mighty ways! Pray God’s blessings on them.
June 13: Dominicans Jehovanisi and his wife, Josie, will host those serving with the La Vid Church. They are energetic and filled with passion. They love the Lord and want to share Him with others.
June 14: We don’t know to whom God will give us opportunity to minister. Pray God will prepare the hearts of the people. Pray God would give people a hunger for Him.
June 15: Pray over what the team packs in their bags, whether it be VBS supplies, personal items, or maybe something that God is prompting someone to bring, even if they don’t know why yet. Everyone needs to bring their bag to church today so they will be ready to go on Tuesday!
June 16: The 27 and the 5 Dominican teens will stay at La Casa Tranquila. Years ago, Calvary groups stayed here. We are calling it “La Casa.” Pray for La Casa as it becomes a ministry base. May God use La Casa for His glory!
June 17: Today, the 27 fly! Pray flights will be on schedule and that the 27 will arrive with all their luggage.
June 18: This is a day filled with orientation and meeting the 11 Dominicans. The 38 are finally together. We’ll all visit the communities in order to see where each group will serve. We’ll dedicate ourselves, this time, and these places to the Lord. Please pray!
June 19 Going house to house (H2H) is a little scary at first, but the Dominicans are very welcoming, offering the best chairs. Pray for these initial contacts as the 38 go H2H in each community!
June 20: We once again will visit homes (H2H) and invite people to church, to Kid’s Clubs, and other ministry activities. Pray that people would be responsive.
June 21: When our days are filled with service, it is important to take time with the Lord. Today we take extended time with God, called “Time on a Rock.” Pray God gives us the spiritual nourishment we need.
June 22: Some say that worshiping in a different language is a taste of heaven. The 38 will experience worship in the DR. Some will share testimonies, some will teach. Thank the Lord for His Church!
June 23: Kid’s Club begins! Pray for the teachers and music and game leaders. Pray the kids will come, and that even parents, who often stand on the edges, will fall in love with God!
June 24: We are just over halfway through the trip. People are tired, and sometimes things are not as “exciting.” Some team members may be struggling with sickness. Despite all this, God is working. Pray we would continue to learn and grow.
June 25: The theme today is “adore.” Pray we can keep what is most important in its rightful spot. It’s been 6 months, but… “O come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord!”
June 26: Today is the last day of Kids Club. Relationships have been formed with many kids. Pray God grows these kids and that they would keep coming to church and grow in their knowledge and faith in Jesus Christ.
June 27: Tonight, we present the gospel at a rally in each community. Pray people will come, that the gospel will be clearly understood, and that people would give their lives to Jesus Christ!
June 28: Today, we travel to enjoy God’s creation, specifically at “la playa” (the beach). Pray for safety as we drive. Pray we would shine His light as we enjoy the sunshine He has made!
June 29: Today, we worship. People will be asked to share what God has done in these past two weeks. May God continue to grow His church.
June 30: The theme today is “reflect.” Much has happened. All 38 team members have been impacted, as well as those to whom they ministered. We thank God for what He has done, and we ask Him to continue working in and through us. Gloria a Dios (Glory to God)!
July 1: The 27 leave La Casa at 4 am. Pray for safe flights, smooth and easy connections, and rest as they return to the USA today!
July 2: Re-entering “normal” life can be difficult. Maybe there are things that should be changed about one’s old life. If so, pray all 38 will be able to do so. May God use this as He grows each of us.
July 3: Pray for Boma. It’s a divided community with two churches, and many people don’t attend either one. Pray for Rick and Becky, as they are the only missionaries ministering there.
July 4: Pray for Buenos Aires. It is growing, but it needs mature Dominican leaders.
July 5: Pray for La Vid as it seeks to impact La Colonia. Praise God for its emphasis on discipling men and women to prepare them for ministry.
July 6: May those who developed a hunger for the Lord take the step to attend church. There is a lot of community pressure to not attend, so pray!
July 7: Let’s thank God for those involved in this journey, including you! Thank you Lord for how we support one another and lift our prayers to You!
Thank you so much for praying! We know God will answer prayers in big ways!
