Today, Jada, a leader at the La Vid site, recaps her experience from the last few days.
Hi, everyone! It has been amazing to see how God has been working at each of the sites in the past few days. On Friday, we spent some time as a team reflecting on the week of VBS. Then, we heard some testimonies from a couple who has been leading the Buenos Aires team, Eduardo and Miriam Infante. We then separated into our individual teams to plan for our ice cream party that night.
In the evening on Friday, we dispersed to our sites and held our ice cream parties! We welcomed kids at the beginning, and it was heart-filling to see the kids who had been with us all week, plus some that had never attended VBS. I saw the power of prayer in action; every time we prayed for more kids to come, they just showed up. How good is our God? After everyone arrived, we started by singing some songs we learned throughout the week, and then our team performed a skit to demonstrate how we are saved by grace through faith and not by works. After this, Jeho, one of the pastors at La Vid who had been helping us throughout the week, gave a message surrounding that same topic. And to end the night, we scooped and handed out ice cream to the kids. We then spent some time playing and fellowshipping with them one last time.
It was a joy to meet and get to know these kids over this past week. And what a blessing that we were also able to connect with some of their parents and other family members as well! They were just as much an example of Christ’s love to me as I was trying to be to them in the way they greeted me with hugs and were respectful and patient with me as I tried my best to speak Spanish with them. Please pray that the gospel message presented to them this past week would stick and that they would continue to seek Jesus and know Him better!
