Kids’ Fiesta at La Vid!

Today, Joseph (Jojo), a student, shares his experiences thus far.

It has been amazing to see the DR. I am in the La Vid group, and I have already seen some really cool stuff. On the second day here, we went on house-to-house visits, which was a little nerve wracking, but not too bad. We encountered a lady who had recently had a surgery (Monday), and the only medication she had for pain was Advil and Tylenol. Thankfully, we were able to connect her with some people at the church and get her some better medication. We saw her again today, and she looked much better, even after just one day. She was more talkative, standing (she was sitting before), and didn’t look as tired.

Most people here are very friendly and welcoming. We have had many people invite us into their homes, have us sit down, and even offer us some coffee. VBS starts next week, so we’ve been handing out flyers to try and spread the word. We had a party today at La Vid so the kids who came would be more interested in coming back for the VBS part, and hopefully they will tell their friends too.

Unfortunately, one of the members in the La Vid group woke up today with a bad fever. He stayed back today and slept most of the time, but now, he is feeling much better. He still has a headache, but no fever and is more active.

Tomorrow is our “time on the rock,” which is basically just a day for us to meditate on God’s word and be in His presence. I can’t wait to see what else God has planned for this trip. Thank you to everyone back home for your prayers; I truly appreciate them. God bless you.
