Operation Christmas Child is a project that sends gift filled shoeboxes to needy children around the world. For some of these children this shoebox gift is the first gift they have ever received. When the children receive their gift filled shoeboxes they also hear the gospel and have the opportunity to enroll in a discipleship class, The Greatest Journey, where they learn more about Jesus and to share Jesus with their family and friends.
First start with a shoebox (preprinted cardboard shoeboxes will be available on the display table in the gym during Coffee Connection) and decide if the gift is for a boy or girl, choose an age category of 2-4, 5-9, or 10-14 years old. Then fill the shoebox with gifts such as toys, school supplies, and hygiene items. Also a picture of your family and a note to the child is encouraged. Pray that the children and their families are receptive to the Good News of Jesus Christ.
You may use the adhesive labels available in the gym during Coffee Connection to indicate boy/girl and age range. Please donate $10.00 to cover shipping and other project costs. OCC prefers that donations be made online at the web address on the adhesive label. If you wish to donate via cash or check, please use the envelopes in the brochure to mail directly to Samaritan’s Purse. The brochures are available at the display table in the gym during Coffee Connection.
Preprinted shoeboxes and labels will be provided at the promotional table in the gym during Coffee Connection, 10/27-11/17. Please bring your gift filled shoeboxes to the church Lobby on Sunday, November 17, Calvary’s Collection Sunday.
