Isaiah 43: 18-19 – See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wastelands.
Imagine your life is a book. Most of us know our origin stories: where we were born, our childhood, and the paths we have chosen to walk as we navigate adulthood. Many of the chapters have been written. But, God, who knows the length of our days, persistently prompts us to turn a page in our lives and to be ready for the next phase.
Sometimes, these changes are positive, and sometimes difficult situations are thrust upon us. Throughout it all, Jesus is there. As 2024 sunsets and we cheer in 2025, it is often a good time to examine our lives and to pray about the next steps.
This month “The Stir” focuses on the theme of a new or fresh page. Blog editors Jill Pearson, Karyn Grenz, and I (Melissa Meyers) share some important ways to connect with your spouse. Laura Kycek shares a book review from Elisabeth Elliot’s book The Mark of a Man. If you are looking to explore spiritual disciplines, you’ll want to read my article about Solitude, Simplicity, and Song, which pairs nicely with Jill Swanson’s article on Closet ADD. Especially, if you want to focus on living a simple life and decluttering.
Lastly, as some changes are not positive but thrust upon us, we hope that you are encouraged by Jenny Garmers’ story of how she and Rick lost their son Micah at the age of fourteen. As always, we have two fun Calvary ladies, Julie Ann Fry and Darci Block, to highlight in Faces of Calvary.
And as 2025 awakens, take comfort in knowing Jesus is with you, and he has placed you here for a purpose, no matter what page of life you are in.
