By Tom Bergquist – Our team is safely back home in Minnesota. It’s hard to believe that the trip is over; the week went by so quickly. As we’ve mentioned in earlier posts, each day of the week Bible stories were shared with the children, from the Old Testament and the New Testament. The week culminated on Friday with the story of Jesus’ crucifixion, resurrection, and what this means for our salvation. Many of the kids really seemed to grasp the significance of what has been called the greatest story ever told. We pray that all of them will continue to seek this truth and that they will continue to grow in Christ. Friday ended with the parents joining us for lunch. It really was a blessing to be able to meet and talk with the parents of these wonderful kids, and hear their stories of coming to Montreal from situations which were more difficult than we can imagine. Many of their stories were heart wrenching. As with the children, we pray that their parents will also seek to know and follow the Savior who loves us so much that he died for each of us.
The picture accompanying this post is of a large cross built on the highest point in Montreal. There has been a cross standing continuously at this same point for over 350 years. Every night the cross is lit up and can be seen from miles away. What a powerful reminder to the people of Montreal and all of us of the role which Christ plays in our lives.
