Feast of FamMin 021 :: Pray for Me Campaign

Feast of Famly Ministries

One of the most fundamental things we can do for one another as followers of Jesus is to pray. Prayer is a gift we ask for and a gift we give. One reason I think God uses prayer as a fundamental part of the Christian life is because it is a way to support, love, participate, and care that anyone can do. Prayer isn’t limited by age, stage, circumstance, intelligence, wealth, or ability. It’s simply a chance to speak to God on behalf of someone (even if that someone is you).

Additionally, prayer also has the wonderful benefit of connecting us. When we earnestly and genuinely pray for someone, our connection with them grows, as does (hopefully, and usually) our love for them.

Pslam 71:17-18 says

17 O God, from my youth you have taught me,
and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds.
18 So even to old age and gray hairs,
O God, do not forsake me,
until I proclaim your might to another generation,
your power to all those to come.

Pray for Me Campaign
Join us Sunday, January 26 at noon for the launch of the Pray for Me Campaign!

Therefore, with that in mind that we want to invite you to the inaugural season of the Pray for Me Campaign (PFMC) as we proclaim His might to the next generation! This campaign is an attempt to connect families across generations and to help cover our young people in prayer.

Here’s how it works: The Pray for Me Campaign connects adult Prayer Partners with a child or student, or a family with multiple children, through prayer. Prayer Partners will use a provided-for-you prayer guide that helps to pray specifically for seven things in the life of each prayer recipient: wisdom, favor, speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity. (Sound familiar? These are character traits based on Luke 2:52 and 1 Tim 4:12.)

Our primary request is that Prayer Partners do their best to do these 3 things:

1) Pray continually for their child/student/family using the prayer guide for 26 weeks, starting the week of January 26 and ending in July.

2) Attend (if possible) the Prayer Partner Matching event on Jan 26 and the end of the year celebration in July to share stories of God’s power through this program.

3) Send one note of encouragement about halfway through the process to your prayer recipient (you will be reminded by email). Are Prayer Partners encouraged to grow in relationship with the families with whom they have been partnered? Of course! But no further “keeping up with their lives” is expected of Prayer Partners.

If you are ready to register your family to be prayed for AND/OR you are willing to be a Prayer Partner, please register HERE. Additionally, the main page for the campaign has several FAQs about the initiative, including information about the prayer guide, length of time, and more.

This coming Wednesday and Sunday, prayer guides will be out and available for your perusal as well.

We hope you choose to join us for the Pray for Me Campaign!  Our kids and our God deserve prayer as an act of service and love. Please contact me with any questions, comments, or wise cracks.

Until the next feast,
