Summer Serve

Thank you, Calvary and Christ Community families for your prayers, financial gifts, and sweat investment in our neighbors three miles to the east of Calvary at Zumbro Ridge Estates (ZRE) the week of July 31 to August 4. Eighty-two volunteers served at fourteen sites, including a daily six-hour VBS camp attended by 30 kids. Work projects included prepping and painting eight decks, repairing and replacing flooring in two homes, building two sets of stairs and a deck, siding repair, tree trimming and mowing, power-washing, painting a home and touching up others, and reroofing a home. One woman we served said, “I’m looking for a church. I haven’t been to church in years…I think my family could definitely use the Lord in our life.” A related highlight involves a Calvary family purchasing a new home at ZRE! Thank you, Calvary Women’s Ministries, for serving the workers daily lunch. We had opportunities to share the gospel with actions and words with many of the residents and plan to follow up with the families we served. ZRE Manager Allie Lechner said that the work done far exceeded her wildest expectations and anything previously done, and that the children are already asking when next year’s day camp will be.
